The Learning First Alliance in conjunction with the International Centre for Educational Change, Ontario Institute for Studies in Education of the University of Toronto (Togneri & Anderson, 2003) conducted a major project to determine what districts can do to improve instruction and achievement in all schools. About the Authors:

Trudy Salsberry is an Associate Professor in Educational Administration and Leadership at Kansas State University and currently teaches, conducts workshops, and publishes on the topic of school improvement. She has also served on her state North Central Association Advisory Board for several years and chaired numerous school improvement teams. She can be contacted at tas@ksu.edu.

Teresa Miller is currently an Associate Professor for the Department of Educational Administration and Leadership at Kansas State University (KSU). She is establishing a research focus on the role of the principalship. Prior to her appointment to KSU this year, she served as both elementary and secondary principal for 15 years.
